SURVEY RESULTS

for consideration Please remember that this is a survey designed to gauge the resident's preferences regarding the operation of our gate and give the Board a reference for future actions - This is not an official HOA vote.  Any resulting action taken by the Board will have to be thoroughly researched, discussed and then evaluated for effectiveness versus costs.

 

ADMIN DETAILS:

* Surveys were tabulated on Feburary 7, 2018 by six residents (four Board members and two non-Board members)

* We received 171 countable surveys - 58% of our 297 homeowners responded.

* Not all residents responded to every question.

* Responses per question are ranked in order of preference - % of total responses for each question are listed in parenthesis.

* Responses selected by less than 10% of residents are not listed.


WEEKDAYS: (171 responses)

I like the schedule as is.

I prefer both entry/exit gates and arm opened during the day with all closed at 6:30pm.

I prefer both entry/exit gates and arm to be closed at all times other than school bus/commuter hours.

I have no preference.

Other:

* 85 residents (50%) preferred that both the arm and entry gate be closed except for school.commuter hours.

* 64 residents (37%) preferred the schedule as is.

* 17 residents (10%) preferred the gates be open during the day.

 

BOARD'S POSITION:  There is no clear mandate for change.  85 residents preferred that both the gate and entry arm be closed during the day (approx 8 am til 3 pm) while 81 residents are either satisfied with the current schedule or prefer that the gates be open all day. The Board will maintain the current schedule for the remainder of the school year.


WEEKENDS: (171 responses)

I prefer both entry/exit gates and arm opened during the day with all closed at 6:30pm.

I prefer both entry/exit gates and arm remain closed 24 hours each day.

* 83 residents (49%) preferred that the gates be closed Sat & Sun.

* 67 residents (39%) preferred the schedule as is.

* 18 residents (11%) preferred the gates be open during the day.

 

BOARD'S POSITION: Again, there is no clear mandate for change.  85 residents are either satisfied with the current schedule or prefer that the gates be open all day.  83 residents prefer that the gates be closed all weekend.  The Board will maintain the current schedule (open limited hours on Sunday afternoon).


SUMMER: (171 responses)

I like the schedule as is.

I prefer both entry/exit gates and arm opened during the day with all closed at 6:30pm.

I prefer both entry/exit gates and arm to be closed at all times other than commuter hours.

I prefer both entry/exit gates and arm remain closed 24 hours each day.

I have no preference.

Other:

* 61 residents (36%) preferred that the gates be closed 24/7.

* 50 residents (29%) preferred that the entry/exit gates and arm be closed at all times except for commuter hours.

* 39 residents (23%) preferred the schedule as is.

 

BOARD'S POSITION: 89 residents prefer some form of the current schedule (limited open hours for commuters during the week) while 61 residents prefer that the gates be closed 24/7.  The Board will take these results into consideration when setting the Summer hours at the May Board meeting.


Holidays: (148 responses)

I prefer both entry gate and arm opened 11:00am to 6:30pm.

I prefer to follow the regular schedule.

* 118 residents (80%) preferred the regular schedule.

* 30 residents (20%) preferred special open hours.

 

BOARD'S POSITION:  On Holidays, we will maintain the regular schedule for that particular day.


PEDESTRIAN ENTRANCE: (171 responses)

I like the pedestrian entrance as is.

I believe the pedestrian entrance needs a gate.

I believe the pedestrian entrance needs a locked gate.

I believe a pedestrian entrance with gate will force children and people pushing baby carriages and bicyclists to use the vehicle gate.

I have no preference.

Other:

* 82 residents (48%) preferred a locked gate.

* 53 residents (31%) preferred the gate as is.

* 18 residents (11%) preferred just a gate.

 

BOARD'S POSITION: 100 residents prefer a pedestrian gate in some configuration. The Board has asked the management company to begin contacting gate/security companies to determine our options.  These options will have to be evaluated for effectiveness vs costs.


EFFECTIVENESS: (167 responses)

I believe the gate is a deterrent to criminals.

I believe the gate is a deterrent to trespassers.

Other:

* 95 residents (57%) believe the gate is a deterrent to both trespassers and criminals.

* 34 residents (20%) believe the gate is a deterrent to trespassers only.

* 19 residents (11%) believe the gate is a deterrent to criminals.

* 19 residents (11%) selected other.

 


EXPANDED GATE:(residents could select more than one option so there are no percentages  listed)

Faster responding entry keypad with larger, lighted keys.

Moving the keypad to the end of the preceding median before the gate to allow for U turn to be made when driver input fails.

Separate lanes for keypad users and tags.

Separate entrance gates for keypad users and tags.

Separate entrance gates for keypad users and tags.

Guard in the guard house every day fro nightfall to dawn.

* 77 residents wanted the Board to investigate separate lanes for tags and keypad users.

* 60 residents wanted an updated keypad system.

* 39 residents wanted the Board to investigate moving the keypad.

* 39 residents wanted the Board to investigate separate gates for tags and keypad users.

* 25 residents wanted a guard from dusk til dawn.

* 23 residents wanted a guard 24/7.

* 25 residents selected other.

 

BOARD'S POSITION: The Board will begin preliminary research on the separate lanes for Tag holders and Keypad and for updated keypad/entry system (We already have one bid for an updated keypad/entry system).
